And now, as more people have realized that Botox can result in serious risks and adverse effects, Botox alternatives have become more and more popular. Here are a few more treatments you might want to consider.

Collagen Injections

Crow’s feet, laugh lines, and other deep lines are successfully treated with collagen injections and have been for years. Many people even get these injections to puff their lips to make them look fuller. This treatment can be used in conjunction with other wrinkle treatments or you can use it on its own. Many people prefer this method to Botox simply because it is relatively safer. However, it still has potential side effects such as allergy and infection at the injection site. Collagen is a natural substance produced by your skin, but as we age, the level of this component decreases leading to loose and wrinkled skin.

Chemical Peels

This treatment uses a mixture of chemicals applied to the skin to dissolve and remove the surface layers of the skin to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Sunspots, age spots, and irregular pigmentation are also treated with this technique. Some studies have also suggested that a chemical peel can lower your chances of suffering from skin cancer. It is possible to use chemical peels virtually anywhere on the body, but it gives the best results on the face. The deeper the peel, the more side effects there are including recovery time, redness and peeling, and swelling.

Max LED Skin Rejuvenation

Pollution, UV rays, smoking, stress, and toxins all damage and age your skin by attacking and limiting its elasticity. This is what causes the fine lines and wrinkles to appear on your skin. LED Skin Rejuvenation is another new technique on the market that reverses and prevents the signs of aging. Various light wavelengths are sent over the skin to prohibit harmful cellular activity and eliminates the tell tale signs of aging. LED actually stimulates the cells responsible for collagen production. The treatments can last up to several months, but it all depends on the extent of the damage. It also takes time to see the results.

Juvederm

This long lasting wrinkle treatment lifts and puffs up the skin by injecting a special gel into the wrinkle using a tiny needle. It sounds a lot like Botox, but it is really quite different. Instead of dangerous toxins, Juvederm uses substances that occur naturally in to body. It simper replenishes the body’s supply. Depending on the type of wrinkle you are treating, three different formulas that can be used. Juvederm 30 is designed for shaping and volumizing your lips as well as repairing deep folds in the skin. Juvederm 18 is used specifically on fine lines and crow’s feet while Juvederm 24 works best on Glabellar lines and forehead creases.

Botox Alternative Creams: Why are they So Popular?

Have you ever wondered why Botox alternatives are so sought after? Find out in this article right here.

 anti aging treatment

Botox has been a highly sought after treatment for wrinkles and fine lines, but in recent years, Botox alternatives have been gaining in popularity because of the nasty and sometimes serious side effects caused by Botox injections.

Botox has several side effects you should be aware of.

Like any other medical treatment, Botox has a very real risk of side effects. They have a wide range of severity and some occur more frequently than others do.

Crow’s feet, laugh lines, and other deep wrinkles can be very depressing and stressful when you notice them in the mirror. This is why the number of people seeking Botox treatments isn’t a shock. They just want them to go away.

Botox treatments are an injection right into the muscles of the face with a micro needle. The injection contains substances that force the muscles to relax, and therefore, prevent the lines associated with aging from appearing. This is by no means a permanent treatment and requires follow up applications on a regular basis to maintain your youthful appearance. This, along with the side effects associated with the treatment and the knowledge that Botox comes from a botulism toxin has left wrinkle sufferers scrambling for better alternatives.

Some of the side effects with Botox occur frequently. It might surprise you to know that almost everyone who gets a Botox treatment experiences at least one of these side effects. This can include a wide variety of things including nausea, headache, flu-like systems, and heavy or drooping eyelids. The side effects from Botox can also include itching, a rash, difficulty or pain when you swallow, and even fevers.

In a small percentage of patients, 3-5%, some of the complications that are less common occur. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine which people will experience these effects. Some of these include redness and swelling at the injection site, pain in your face, and even muscle weakness.

Side effects that are more serious can occur with a Botox treatment. They are rare, but they do still happen in a small number of cases. Paralysis of the muscles around the treatment area can lead to either partial of full permanent paralysis of the face.

Injecting the Botox into the wrong spot on the face is another serious problem that can be more serious than you might initially realize. If the needle misses its target, you can suffer temporary and even permanent paralysis. This will cause at least a temporary case of palsy.

Injecting Botox in and around the eye can cause additional side effects. Some of these include light sensitivity, facial swelling, dry or watery eyes, the inability to close the eyelid, cornea inflammation, and drooping of the upper eyelid. These are more common than you may think mostly due to the delicacy of the eye area.

Does the thought of these side effects make you nervous? Maybe you didn’t know these risks were associated with Botox. If you didn’t, you aren’t the only one. This is precisely why so many people are using Botox alternatives. On the bright side, many of the alternatives work just as well as an injection.
