Tissue fillers can diminish wrinkles by filling creases, folds, and facial depressions. After decades of intensive testing, several substances have been approved internationally to be used as wrinkle fillers in humans as a cosmetic procedure. As the number of test subjects increased undesirable side effects forced researchers to look for better fillers for wrinkles that are safer and produce longer lasting results with little to no side effects. A good dermatologist can help with choosing the right product for the client’s skin type and type of wrinkles.

Topical fillers are used in makeup to diminish lines and make the face and neck look smoother. For a more permanent treatment, wrinkles filler is injected into the lines to erase them. Synthetic collagen and extracted body fat are the most commonly used as facial wrinkle fillers. However, there are others that have been approved and they may work for some. The body is more likely to accept collagen and fat because these substances that occur naturally in the body. BOTOX® is another substance that is popular worldwide and works well for some people but can be dangerous with severe side effects for some especially if the procedure is not done properly. All wrinkles filler should be used only under a doctor’s supervision and certain preexisting conditions should be considered before injecting any of them. Some substances can trigger serious heart problems or allergic reactions.

Cosmetic wrinkle fillers, whether topical or injected can give the skin a smoother appearance. Some topical fillers contain substances that help the skin to absorb moisture which helps to make cells fuller and the skin plumper. This type of facial wrinkle filler is preferable for those who are afraid of needles and would rather keep the treatment external Continued treatment can help to restore elasticity in the skin. People with sensitive skins should read labels well and when in doubt check with a dermatologist. For deep or extensive wrinkles injecting the wrinkles filler would be more effective would provide a more permanent result but usually it is not long lasting and the treatment must be repeated from time to time to maintain the youthful look. The procedure is done in many countries and some people combine travel with treatment and use their vacation as recovery time. Careful selection of a reputable facility will ensure satisfactory results when using a wrinkle filler.

Sandpaper Your Skin To Get Rid Of Wrinkles And Acne Scars

Dermabrasion, microdermabrasion and their alternatives. How to beat acne and wrinkles.

Would you like to get your face sandpapered?
It sounds senseless — as bad as injecting toxins into your face to erase wrinkles a.k.a. botox. Yet, like botox, it works.

That in a crux is what dermabrasion is all about. Sandpapering your face in the name of beauty.

I’m not suggesting that you go to a hardware store to buy sandpaper to slough your face with. Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure which should be done by a qualified surgeon. It carries the risk associated with any surgery. An anaesthetic is used, and there’s always the possibility of infection.

Dermabrasion is a drastic way to reduce acne scars and to smoothen away wrinkles.

The top layer of skin is sloughed off to reveal younger, softer, smoother skin beneath. First, the surgeon applies a local anaesthetic. Then the surgeon uses an abrading instrument to "sandpaper" the skin in circular motions.

There is a risk of scarring should the skin be abraded too deeply. In some cases, discolouration can occur. Hence, the surgeon’s skill is important. The surgeon has to abrade deep enough to make a difference, but not so deep as to scar the patient.

After the procedure, the skin is treated like a wound. The patient would generally take 7 to 10 days to recover after the dermabrasion. The skin would feel sunburned and may be slightly swollen, bright pink and uncomfortable for a few days after the treatment. The final results can be dramatic. Especially on fine lines on the mouth and other deep wrinkles that come with aging. Acne scars, especially the ones left by cystic acne might not be completely removed through dermabrasion. Still, dermabrasion can soften the scars and reduce their appearance. Skin discoloration can be effectively removed with dermabrasion. For details, check with the surgeons you are considering for the procedure and request to see before and after photos of your surgeon’s work.

Dermabrasion might be too drastic for some people. There’s a gentler alternative, known as micro dermabrasion. Both Dermabrasion and micro dermabrasion require repeat treatments for optimal results as well as to maintain the results.

In Micro dermabrasion, micro particles are blasted onto the skin to slough off the dead skin cells and reveal the younger skin beneath. It is like sandplasting a surface smooth. Alternatively, a diamond tipped device may be used instead of crystal so slough off the top layer of the skin. The effects, though not as dramatic as dermabrasion, are excellent for treating acne as well as making the skin smoother. Micro dermabrasion is basically very efficient exfoliation. It treats acne at its root – by unclogging the pores. It also works on fine lines and wrinkles.

Basically, both dermabrasion and micro dermabrasion are forms of exfoliation, albeit more drastic. Hence, you can have your own home microdermabrasion treatments with home dermabrasion kits. These are safe if you follow the instructions exactly and use them no more than once a week. The results are milder than microdermabrasion, but then again, home microdermabrasion done carefully, following the instructions exactly is safer than salon microdermabrasion in the hands of an inexperienced person.

Botox Cosmetic Injections for Facial Wrinkles

Botox cosmetic injections are an effective treatment for facial wrinkles. Botox cosmetic injections promise great results in patients having migraine headaches as well.

Botox cosmetic injections are a true blessing for those who wouldn’t like to go the surgery way to diminish their facial wrinkles. Botox injection treatment aims at rendering inactive those muscles which produce wrinkles. Though only a temporary treatment, Botox injections offer the advantage of no downtime; daily activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure.

About Botox

Botox is the botulinum toxin type A in a much purified form. It is the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum that turns out this toxin.

Botox Treatment – The Procedure

With the help of a small, thin needle; the doctor injects minute doses of Botox into particular muscles. Individual treatment is done on the underlying hyperdynamic muscles. Care is taken to paralyze and weaken only those muscles which are the causative factors for wrinkles, furrowing and lining. The ultimate result is younger and less tired skin.

Factors like the facial features, the specific region being treated and the degree of wrinkling would determine the quantity of injections required for a particular patient.

Areas Effectively Treated

Areas which the Botox treatment can prove effective for include:

Crow’s feet
Glabellar furrow
Neck bands situated on the underside of the chin
Forehead lines
Wrinkles surrounding the upper lip

Short Term but No Severe Side Effects

The results of the injections are usually noticeable within a week’s time and would remain for 3 to 6 months after which repeat injections would be required. Complications and side effects like minor bruising, redness, nausea and headache are a possibility after Botox treatment. Severe side effects however, are rare. To minimize the incidence of side effects, it is of utmost importance that the patient gets the treatment done only by a professional doctor.

Though the FDA has only approved Botox cosmetic injections for improving facial wrinkles, this treatment promises great results in patients having migraine headaches, and too much armpit or hand sweating.

How Does Botox Compare To Wrinkle Creams?

Want to know how wrinkle creams compare to Botox? Then find out in this article right here.

At one point in time we are all faced with wrinkles and fine lines. Luckily for us, there are a variety of treatments like wrinkle creams and Botox but choosing the right one for you might be a bit more confusing. This is why it can be beneficial to know why wrinkle creams outweigh Botox. Take a moment to really think about it. We do many things to help our body rid harmful toxins; cleansers, creams and antioxidants are just a few of those things. Would you really want to inject a toxin into your body to remove those wrinkles when you try so hard to get rid of all toxins? Botox is also invasive. Wrinkle creams aren’t and you won’t have the worry of putting more toxins into your body if you use a wrinkle cream. You also receive the same results.

1. Botox side effects

All procedures usually include side effects and some that you might experience with Botox are; bruising, rash, itching, hot flashes, flu like symptoms, paralyzed muscles, drooping eyelids, pain, difficulty closing the eyelids and even nerve dysfunction. These are just some of the possible side effects aside from the stiff look your face might have that is very common with Botox procedures.

You won’t have to worry about these side effects using wrinkle creams. Instead, you will be able to reduce your fine lines and wrinkles, even give it a slight lift. Now doesn’t that seem to make more sense than the latter?

2. Injection Costs

Botox is a pretty pricey procedure but wrinkle cream is affordable and has longer term results and benefits. If having Botox you can expect to spend a minimum of $400. For that price you could probably buy a year worth of wrinkle cream. So why not save your money and receive the same great benefits; you will see why you chose a better option by using wrinkle cream shortly after your first application.

3. Botox limited effects

You may not believe that Botox isn’t exactly the answer to an anti aging fix. It is really only approved for small areas on your face like between the brows and maybe your forehead line. Aside from this factor, it doesn’t contact all the wrinkles on your face, in other areas, or other anti aging factors like lack of tone and puffiness. With a wrinkle cream you can combat all anti aging signs on your face.

4. Short-term anti aging results

There are quite a few more benefits of Botox over wrinkle cream. When you use a high quality wrinkle cream you will see almost instant results and the antioxidants continue working to protect your face from all those harmful free radicals. This means you receive long term benefits while your skin continues to look healthier and younger every day. Talk about a wonderful way to get rid of some years! Botox will only give you short term results for the price on injecting those toxins into your body.

Another downside to Botox is you must make an appointment, but it will be more on the doctor’s schedule than your own. You will have to work to fit yourself into the schedule instead of the other way around. Using a wrinkle cream, you use it on your own time, in the morning or night, depending on the directions and then you’re done. You can watch the results form before your eyes and start reaping those benefits of no more wrinkles and fine lines.

And there you have it. It’s always important to love your skin and also take great care of it. Now that you have some comparisons of Botox and wrinkle creams you can begin ridding your face of those lines and wrinkles and let people keep guessing your real age! Find out which

Proven Ways To Get Rid Of Wrinkles

Are you trying to find ways to remove wrinkles that have been proven to work? Then keep on reading.

Some people are okay with accepting wrinkles since it’s part of aging, but others realize they will face them one day but hope to delay their arrival. The following are some proven ways that will help you get rid of those wrinkles.

In order to properly battle those wrinkles you need to fully understand what causes them in the first place. As you age your collagen production levels decrease therefore resulting in wrinkles. The collagen is responsible for keeping the tissue together so as it breaks down the skin begins loosening therefore producing wrinkles. The wrinkles will only become more visible with time.

Many people choose to go the surgery route when dealing with wrinkles. There are several types of surgery choices that we’ll review but there are even more proven ways to remove wrinkles.

1. Botox

This method is most commonly used to remove moderate to severe wrinkles. However, it isn’t permanent so you will have to repeat the procedure every 4 months or so. It will only take a few days to see results once you have Botox and will continue to see results for another month before they start leveling off.

2. Glycolic Acid Peels

This peel can make a significant difference when it comes to battling fine lines and wrinkles.

3. Deep Peels

These peels use salicylic acid or trichloroacetic. This is because it penetrates deeper under the skin so it gives dramatic results in the appearance of your fine lines and wrinkles. However, you should also be aware that the deeper the peel you receive, the higher risk you have of experiencing side effects.

4. Collagen Creams

This is an option although not every one of them is beneficial but some are. The newer creams contain hydrolyzed collagen and have been shown to give better results. Even better, a few certain companies are currently producing a full size collagen topical cream that goes even deeper into the skin.

5. Drinking Water

Do you realize your body is 70% water? This is why it only makes sense that supplying your body with the right amount of water will continue the hydration of your skin. Thus, you are left with fewer wrinkles and fine lines. Give your skin at least 8 glasses of water each day so it can stay hydrated and retain the moisture it needs to give that healthy glow.

5. Eating Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

Both of these contain beneficial antioxidants that aid in reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The free radicals produced by our body actually hurt our skin and organs. The antioxidants battle the free radicals while cleaning up any damage leaving you with younger, healthier looking skin.

7. Microdermabrasives

This method helps shrink the appearance of wrinkles while also preventing more from developing. This is a gentle method and uses oxide crystals, medical grade of course, that project across the skin. This removes all the dead skin along with the wrinkles and fine lines.

8. Wrinkle Cream Serums

Even though is a wide variety of wrinkle creams to choose from a majority of them are actually good anti aging creams. However what works best for someone else won’t necessarily work the best for you so be prepared to try a few. To know if it is a good wrinkle cream, look for instant results and also long term benefits. Don’t wait thirty days to see noticeable results from your wrinkle cream.

These are only some of the ways that have proved to remove wrinkles. If you want non-invasive surgery there are plenty to choose from.

What Wrinkles?

The promise of a more youthful look can be very tempting. Botox is regarded by some as the ultimate fountain of youth. BOTOX Cosmetic was released in 2002 by the FDA for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows. In the U.S., Botox injections have become the most popular and least expensive cosmetic procedure to regain a more youthful appearance. In this article, you’ll find out what Botox is, and how and why it’s used.

History

The cosmetic benefits of Botox were found quite accidentally. In 1987, ophthalmologists, Drs. Jean and Alastair Carruthers, were treating patients with Botox for an eye muscle disorder that causes involuntary blinking. The doctors noted that Botox also smoothed the lines between the patients’ eyebrows – lines that tend to make one look tired, angry or displeased. In 1992, they published the first manuscript on the use of Botox for treating frown lines and opened a new era in the field of minimally invasive cosmetic surgery.

Anatomy of a Wrinkle

There are two types of wrinkles, ‘dynamic’ and ‘static’. When a person is young, they don’t have wrinkles because the skin does a great job of stretching and staying firm. There’s not a magic age when everyone suddenly gets wrinkles.

Dynamic wrinkles can develop from years of facial movements that result from squinting or smiling like the little wrinkles around the eyes called "crow’s feet."

Static wrinkles are formed by sagging skin. As skin loses its elasticity with age or spending too much time in the sun, it does not rebound from the constant forces of stress placed upon it. Skin gets thinner and loses collagen. As this plump appearance begins to disappear, the skin starts to sag, and wrinkles form.

The facelift has been the gold standard for treating static wrinkles. However, treating dynamic wrinkles was always difficult until the advent of Botox.

How It Works

Botox is very safe to administer. It has been used for the past twenty years to treat involuntary muscle spasms and more recently, migraine headaches and excessive sweating. Botox diminishes wrinkles by blocking the release of the chemical substance that causes muscle contraction. It also blocks the same chemical signal responsible for embarrassing excessive sweat.

No long-term adverse effects have been described with the cosmetic use of Botox. In skillful hands, side effects are minimal and results are highly predictable. The procedure may be repeated as often as desired and can be used in combination with other treatments for a more youthful appearance.

Botox is injected relatively painlessly with a micro-needle directly into or around facial muscles that your individual needs require. Improvement in wrinkles can be seen within days and can last up to four months. Benefits can last even longer with repeated use. If you are pregnant, taking certain medications or have a neuromuscular disease, you are not eligible to receive BOTOX Cosmetic treatments.

Treatment of the Upper Face

Doctors use Botox most often on the upper face. Dynamic wrinkles in this area are caused by repeated movement in the face. Wrinkles appear when the muscles contract, creasing the overlying skin like an accordion. This leads to a "persistent frown" and a more aged appearance.

The most common areas that are treated are frown lines, the horizontal bands of wrinkles across the forehead and crow’s feet. Other areas of the upper face can also be treated. These include bunny lines’ across the bridge of the nose and ‘under eye’ creases. Botox can also be used to elevate the mid and lateral eyebrow for eyebrow shaping.

Treatment of the Lower Face

The lower face is subject to both dynamic as well as static forces and therefore can be more challenging to treat. Botox can be used as a primary treatment or in conjunction with dermal fillers to rejuvenate the lower face. Injections into the upper and lower lip treat the radial lines around the mouth, also known as ‘lipstick lines’ or ‘sunbeam wrinkles’. Botox can correct dimpling of the chin and ‘marionette lines’ by softening irregular folds on the chin and on either side of the mouth.

The Procedure

The entire procedure takes about ten minutes. Treatments consist of a few tiny injections in the group of muscles at the desired treatment area. Anesthesia isn’t necessary but some of our patients choose to numb the site with a cold pack. Discomfort is minimal and brief, so patients may resume normal activities immediately.

New patients require about 25 units of Botox for frown lines, 10-15 units for forehead lines and 10-15 units per side for crow’s feet. Men require higher doses because they have larger and stronger facial muscles.

Botox has revolutionized the world of cosmetic dermatology. It is used routinely as an adjunct to surgery, soft tissue fillers, laser resurfacing and pulsed light therapy for skin rejuvenation. The list of cosmetic uses continues to grow.

One of the most common anti aging treatments to get rid of forehead wrinkles that is used by many people including celebrities is Botox. Botox injection paralyzes the muscles of the forehead thus preventing your face from making expressions that wrinkle the skin.

Five Steps to Reversing Sugar Related Skin Aging

Want to know the truth about how sugar causes your skin to age faster? Then find out the answer right here in this article.

If you’re a big fan of sugar coated cereals and candies, you might be surprised to learn that your own body engages in some sugar coating of its own, through a process called glycation.

During glycation the sugar molecules absorbed into your blood stream during the digestion process coat protein molecules throughout your body, according to the respected New York and Miami dermatologist Dr. Frederic Brandt.

The newly sweetened protein molecules have been given the name "Advanced Glycation End Products" which morphs very neatly into the anagram AGEs, and could not be better named. Why?

Some of the most important protein molecules in your body are those which make up your collagen and elastin. These two substances are found in the lower layers of your skin, and are what give your skin’s surface its firmness and resiliency.

The greater the amount of sugar you consume, the more AGEs your body will produce. And by the time you reach thirty-five or so, your skin will begin to show the effects in the form of a duller complexion and wrinkling. You will look prematurely old, and the glycation process will only speed up going forward.

Are you destined to be a victim of AGEs?

Not if you’re willing to take the steps necessary to reverse the glycation process. The steps themselves are quite simple, but finding the will power to implement them may take some effort!

Step 1

You probably know what Step 1 is: start replacing the processed sugars in your diet with the natural ones found in vegetables and fruits, which have a much less drastic effect on your blood sugar levels. If you simply can’t live without your refined sugar, limit your consumption of it to no more than 10% of your daily caloric intake.

For someone consuming 1600 calories per day, this means no more than ten teaspoons of refined sugar, including the sugars found in processed foods. But limiting your sugar intake in this manner will not only benefit your skin; it will help you lose weight and reduce your risk of diabetes as well.

You can easily determine how many teaspoons of sugar a single serving of processed food contains by learning to read the nutritional labels on the packages. Just divide the total grams of carbohydrate by 4, and you’ll have your answer.

You may be amazed to learn just how many forms of refined sugars are being added to processed foods. The most common is high fructose corn syrup, but maltose, dextrose, molasses, and maple syrup, are all used as sweeteners and are all guilty of glycation.

Step 2

In addition to limiting your refined sugar intake, you should be sure to supplement your diet with 1 mg each of Vitamins B1 and B6 every day. A New Your dermatologist, Dr. David Goldberg, cites a number of studies which indicate that these two vitamins are very effective in reducing the effects of glycation.

You will get some of them in your food, but the best way to ensure you have them in adequate amounts is to take them as supplemental vitamins. Your body will metabolize only what it needs, and eliminate the remainder, so you are in no danger of developing toxin levels of either of them.

Step 3

You can also fight the production of AGEs from the outside, by limiting your exposure to sunlight, especially between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, when UV rays are at their strongest. The British Journal of Dermatology has published a study showing that the collagen in skin left unprotected from the sun will develop a higher level of AGEs than protected skin.

Using a moisturizer rated SPF 30 and wearing a hat with a brim wide enough o shade your entire face and neck are two methods you can employ if you must be out in the sun during peak daylight hours.

Step 4

Fight glycation with the help of dietary and topical antioxidants. All the vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids are all powerful antioxidants and nutrients you can get them by eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in as many colors as you can find.

Cold water fish like salmon and sardines have the omega 3 fatty acids, and adding nuts to your salads or sipping green tea through out the day will also help you fight glycation. But if you know you aren’t getting enough antioxidants in your diet, you can once again turn to supplements.

So now you know not only about glycation and AGEs, but also about what you can do to reverse the glycation process and restore your skin to a more youthful appearance.

Step 5

Start using antioxidant enriched anti aging wrinkle creams, which will feed your skin directly. A combination of good diet, sun protection, and a quality wrinkle cream is a powerful AGE fighter indeed!

So think about your favorite sweets, and decide the few minutes’ pleasure they provide is a fair exchange for wrinkles that will stay with you for years. If your answer is no, start taking the steps to eliminate AGEs, and wrinkles, from your life right now!

Botox Alternative Creams: Why are they So Popular?

Have you ever wondered why Botox alternatives are so sought after? Find out in this article right here.

 anti aging treatment

Botox has been a highly sought after treatment for wrinkles and fine lines, but in recent years, Botox alternatives have been gaining in popularity because of the nasty and sometimes serious side effects caused by Botox injections.

Botox has several side effects you should be aware of.

Like any other medical treatment, Botox has a very real risk of side effects. They have a wide range of severity and some occur more frequently than others do.

Crow’s feet, laugh lines, and other deep wrinkles can be very depressing and stressful when you notice them in the mirror. This is why the number of people seeking Botox treatments isn’t a shock. They just want them to go away.

Botox treatments are an injection right into the muscles of the face with a micro needle. The injection contains substances that force the muscles to relax, and therefore, prevent the lines associated with aging from appearing. This is by no means a permanent treatment and requires follow up applications on a regular basis to maintain your youthful appearance. This, along with the side effects associated with the treatment and the knowledge that Botox comes from a botulism toxin has left wrinkle sufferers scrambling for better alternatives.

Some of the side effects with Botox occur frequently. It might surprise you to know that almost everyone who gets a Botox treatment experiences at least one of these side effects. This can include a wide variety of things including nausea, headache, flu-like systems, and heavy or drooping eyelids. The side effects from Botox can also include itching, a rash, difficulty or pain when you swallow, and even fevers.

In a small percentage of patients, 3-5%, some of the complications that are less common occur. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine which people will experience these effects. Some of these include redness and swelling at the injection site, pain in your face, and even muscle weakness.

Side effects that are more serious can occur with a Botox treatment. They are rare, but they do still happen in a small number of cases. Paralysis of the muscles around the treatment area can lead to either partial of full permanent paralysis of the face.

Injecting the Botox into the wrong spot on the face is another serious problem that can be more serious than you might initially realize. If the needle misses its target, you can suffer temporary and even permanent paralysis. This will cause at least a temporary case of palsy.

Injecting Botox in and around the eye can cause additional side effects. Some of these include light sensitivity, facial swelling, dry or watery eyes, the inability to close the eyelid, cornea inflammation, and drooping of the upper eyelid. These are more common than you may think mostly due to the delicacy of the eye area.

Does the thought of these side effects make you nervous? Maybe you didn’t know these risks were associated with Botox. If you didn’t, you aren’t the only one. This is precisely why so many people are using Botox alternatives. On the bright side, many of the alternatives work just as well as an injection.

Go straight to the face lift cream that works.
