The Skin Types Review
Knowing your skin type can make selecting the right skin care easy. Without a skin transplant a person cannot change skin type but can learn to live in ones skin and keep it beautiful. Healthy skin depends largely on skin type, diet, attitude and skin care which can all slow aging.
There are five basic skin types, including normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive, each having particular characteristics and requiring specific care or treatment.
A simple test can tell what skin type a person has. In the morning as you awake, wipe your face with a clean facial tissue or paper to find out your skin type. If the tissue shows no traces of oil, the skin is normal and you are lucky. No oil can also indicate dry skin type but the dry skin feels flaky, dry, and tight after the wipe and has an ashen tone. This skin type has fine pores and is easily irritated, ages poorly and easily develop wrinkles. Oil on the paper indicates skin type oily. Oily skin type are often associated with acne and other skin problems that develop from the oil combining with dust to clog pores and initiate infections. Some people have a combination skin type, being dry skin in the morning and oily skin later in the day or with different patches of all skin types. A combination skin type can see problems associated with any of the other skin types.
Sensitive skin type is the most problematic and personal care products must be selected cautiously for this skin type. Certain chemical in facial creams or mask, chemical peels and other skin care treatments can easily cause skin problems for people with sensitive skin. Hormone levels, diet, stress and a number of other factors can trigger outbreaks in this skin type and finding treatment is difficult because many active ingredients in skin care products can cause problems for sensitive skin. This skin type is more prone to developing one of the different skin cancer types with the numerous outbreaks and problems that it will endure over the years if great care is not taken.
Protecting the skin from sunlight and ultra violet lights in tanning beds, natural masks and moisturizers can help to reduce wrinkles. Lotion and other skin care products should be carefully selected to ensure that they are not contributing to the problem. People with sensitive skin should visit a dermatologist to determine the skin type solution that will not further damage the skin. Products designed for sensitive skin type solution are usually effective for all skin types. No matter what skin type a person has, a healthy body and good skin care will help the skin to feel vibrant, elastic, and supple, looking clean and smooth with a healthy complexion that shows good circulation.
